Most users will chose the default option of installing a new system.

even though it is technically possible to upgrade from a previous minor release it is recommended to perform a
fresh install instead. Instead of wiping out the existing partitions; however, you could opt for a parallel installation of the
new Oracle Linux version. Boot loader entries will allow you to dual-boot the system in case you have to revert back to
the earlier release for some reason.
Tip
The Oracle Linux installation will begin automatically after a timeout or when you press enter. Before launching
the graphical installer “Anaconda,” you have the option to perform a check of the installation media. If this is the first
time you use the DVD with a server it is recommended to perform the test. You can safely skip it if you have already
successfully used the DVD in a previous installation.

Your system will then start Anaconda, the graphical configuration assistant to guide you through the rest of the
installation.
