Horseback Riding
Spicelands Riding Centre This stable offers group trail rides for $80 per person.
The regularly scheduled 1-hour jaunts begin daily at 7:30, 9, and 11am, year-round.
On spring, summer, and fall weekends, there are also rides at 3 and 5pm. Book at
least 1 day ahead, calling between 6am and 7pm.

Tennis
Nearly all the big hotels (and many of the smaller ones) have courts, most of which
can be lit for night play. Pack your tennis clothing and sneakers, because a tennis
outfit (though it no longer needs to be white) may be required.
Each of the facilities listed below has a tennis pro on duty, and lessons can be
arranged. All rent racquets and sell balls.
Elbow Beach Hotel The Elbow Beach Hotel has five Laykold courts (one for
lessons only). Lessons cost $75 for 1 hour. The 1-hour court fee is $12. Racquets can
be rented for $7 per hour, and balls are $8 per can of three.

The Fairmont Southampton This resort has Bermuda's largest tennis court
layout, with six Plexipave courts, three of which are lit for night play. The price for
guests and nonguests is $15 per hour. Evening rates are $6 extra. Racquets rent for
$8 per hour, balls cost $7 per can. Lessons are $80 for 1 hour.

Government Tennis Stadium (W. E. R. Joell Tennis Stadium) There are
three clay and five Plexicushion courts here. Charges to play are $10 per hour for
adults, $5 per hour for juniors (12 and under). Playing at night on one of the three lit
courts costs $8 extra. Tennis attire is mandatory. Racquets rent for $7 per hour; balls
cost $6 per can.

Grotto Bay Beach Club This resort across from the airport has some of the best
tennis courts on the island. The 8.5-hectare (21-acre) property offers four Plexipave
courts, two of which are well-lit for night games. During the day, guests play for $10,
nonguests $12; at night, guests pay $15, nonguests $17. The hotel also rents rackets
for $4 and sells tennis balls for $6 a can at the on-site pro shop.

SPECTATOR SPORTS
In this tradition-bound British colony, the most popular spectator sports are cricket,
soccer, field hockey, and the not terribly genteel game of rugby. As you might expect,
