Dressing the Part
Some of the upscale restaurants in Ber-
muda ask that men wear a jacket and
tie for dinner; some restaurants require
a jacket but not a tie. When making
reservations, always ask what the dress
code is. “Casual but elegant” dress is
preferred at most Sunday buffets.

Beau Rivage FRENCH Beau Rivage is the most authentically French res-
taurant on island. Overlooking Hamilton Harbour, it is the domain of award-winning
chef Jean Claude. He not only offers some of the finest dishes on island, but also
features tables opening onto a panoramic view.
Using quality ingredients, he gives a modern interpretation to classic French
dishes. Come here to be served radiantly authentic flavors in fresh shrimp concoc-
tions; tender, well-aged steaks; or succulent veal or lamb chops. Blue crab is often
featured, as are vegetarian dishes. Start, perhaps, with a bowl of the velvety lobster
bisque.

17th-century house (now a stylish accommodation; see p. 82 for review) provides a
romantic setting for refined cuisine. It's like walking into an English manor house,
with prints on the walls and white-clothed tables set with silver and crystal. At dinner,
a pianist entertains with soft music.
