In addition to the crops and traits listed in Table 12.1, there are others in various
stages of development. The crops and traits shown in Table 12.2 are only those for
which preliminary approvals for field trials have been granted by one or more
countries. Table 12.2 is not complete since many companies withhold news of new
crop traits to prevent copy or imitation by competitors. A review of the current list
