The Ecuador countryside and sky (Fig. 8.2) indicate a partly cloudy day with
consequent shadows on fields. Cloud cover is consistent with the lower rainfall in
Ecuador compared with Ohio or the Philippines, as shown in Figure 8.4. The verdant
green is a result of a relatively constant rainfall and temperature regime at Quito,
Ecuador.
As seen in Figure 8.5 the temperature at Leyte and Quito are both very constant,
varying less than 28C (1.1 for Ecuador and 1.8 for Leyte) throughout the year.
However, the temperature at Quito hovers between 18.9 and 208C while at Leyte it
