Subtropical fruits are low in protein and fat; see Figure 6.19. The protein and
fat content are slightly over 2 percent or less, with most being less than 1 percent.
The exception would be olives, which have a relatively high oil content. Of these
fruits lemons have relatively high vitamin C content while grapefruit and olives have
relatively high B vitamins. Dates have by far the highest amount of B vitamins
while lemons have about the same amount, although somewhat lower than dates. In
terms of minerals dates have the highest levels of iron and potassium while lemons
have the highest amount of calcium.
