Scroll down to the bottom of this page and select 'manually manage music and videos'.
This allows you to select the songs or albums you want to transfer instead of syncing your
whole library.
Once you have done that, enable your sidebar in iTunes. I find this helps when transferring
songs or albums to an iPhone
