Opening Hours
Most restaurants are open from 10am or 11am to 11pm or midnight.
Arrive by 9pm or 10pm (at the latest) to ensure being seated and served.
Reservations
It is advisable to book tables at midrange to top-end restaurants, especially at the week-
end.
Etiquette
People in Budapest tend to meet their friends and entertain outside their homes at cafes
and restaurants.
If you are invited to a local person's home, bring a bunch of flowers or a bottle of good
local wine.
Hungarians don't clink glasses when drinking beer - wine is fine - because that's how
the Habsburgs celebrated the defeat of Lajos Kossuth in the 1848-49 War of Independ-
ence.
