to young Budapesters - will be a lot of fun for kids who rarely (if ever) board such forms of
public transport.
Parks & Playgrounds
The Budapest Zoo and the adjoining Holnemvolt Park of amusement rides at the northern
end of City Park is an excellent place to while away the afternoon and early evening.
Great playgrounds include ones on XIII Margaret Island, about 50m northeast of the
fountain at the southern end; on III Óbuda (Hajógyári) Island, about 200m along the main
road (take the HÉV to the island's footbridge); and in XIII Szent István Park. Smaller play-
grounds are at V Hild tér, VII Hunyadi tér and VII Almássy tér.
Eating
Most restaurants won't have a set children's menu but will split the adult portion. When they
do they're usually priced around 1200Ft. Budapest's traditional cafes and cukrászdák (cake
shops) will satisfy a sweet tooth of any size, but for a really special occasion treat the little
rascals to the all-you-can-eat dessert bar at the Budapest Marriott Hotel ( MAP
GOOGLE MAP ; 1-737 7377; www.marriott.com ; Apáczai Csere János utca 4). Just 2200Ft
gets you as many cakes as they can manage from noon to 10pm daily. A cafe made for kids
is Briós in Újlipótváros.
