buildings are near the park: the National Institute for the Blind and Ödön Lechner's Institute

Traditional Coffee Houses
New York Café The city's most extravagant cafe dates from 1894; it has been turned into an
opulent hang-out for tourists and the haves of Pest.
Művész Kávéház Still homey and down-to-earth after all these years (since 1898!), the 'Artist
Coffeehouse' is the best cafe in town for people watching.
Gerbeaud Budapest's most fashionable cafe is also its most expensive, but you get what you
pay for: the cakes here are sublime.
Ruszwurm Cukrászda The city's oldest cafe (1827) and also its tiniest is a positive delight - if
you can manage to get inside the door.
Centrál Kávéház The grande dame of traditional cafes, dating back to 1887, has reclaimed
her title as the place to sit and look intellectual in Pest.
