Day Four
Óbuda & Buda Hills
On your last day have a look at what the west side of the Danube used to be like by
strolling through
Óbuda
and learning how Buda, Óbuda and Pest all came togeth-
er. Again, the choice of museums and attractions is legion, but the
Vasarely Mu-
seum
and its hallucinogenic works never fail to please and the nearby
Hungarian Museum
of Trade & Tourism
is a positive delight. Alternatively,
Aquincum
is just a short HÉV ride
away.
Lunch
The fish soup at
Új Sípos Halászkert
goes down a treat.
Óbuda & Buda Hills
In the afternoon head south for
Margaret Bridge
. Just up the hill to the west is
Gül
Baba's Tomb
, the only Muslim place of pilgrimage in northern Europe. Spend the
rest of the afternoon pampering yourself at the
Lukács Baths
.
Dinner
Fióka
is a fine and intimate eatery just west of Széll Kálmán tér.
Margaret Island & Northern Pest
Cross over Margaret Bridge to Margaret Island and
Holdudvar
bar-club, an excel-
lent place to both cool down and kick up your heels. It's open till the wee hours, so
there's no hurry.
