In-Depth Information
This enormous wooden villa sits right on the lake's edge at the foot of the town's pier. It's a
prime spot to watch the yachts sail in and out of the harbour from the terrace while munch-
ing on Hungarian cuisine and sipping local wine.
CAFE, BAR
KAROLINA
( GOOGLE MAP ; 87-583 098; http://karolina.hu ; Zákonyi Ferenc utca 4; noon-9pm)
Hands down the most popular gathering spot in town, Karolina is a sophisticated cafe-bar
that does an excellent job of serving fresh coffee, aromatic teas and quality local wines. The
interior, with its Art Nouveau wall hangings and subtle lighting, has a certain decadent air
about it, while the terrace area with sofas couldn't be more laid-back.
WINE BAR
KREDENC BORBISZTRÓ
( GOOGLE MAP ; 06 20 518 9960; www.boraszportal.hu/kredencborbisztro-galeria ; Blaha Lujza
utca 7; 10am-11pm Tue-Sat, to 5pm Sun Apr-Oct, 10am-11pm Wed-Sat Nov-Mar)
This family-run wine bar-bistro is a peaceful retreat only steps away from the lakefront. The
menu is stacked with oodles of local wines and the owner, András Dobai, is often on hand to
recommend the best tipple. The lovely menu also makes this an excellent choice for a light
meal. The bar moonlights as a retail wine shop.
