Seats in the antique-filled dining room of this charming hotel are coveted, but the outdoor
ones in summer are the hot seat of Eger's main square. Try the cream of pumpkin soup
served with duck liver (950Ft and the

Try one or two of the region's best wines at this central wine bar. The waiters can guide you
with the right selection and supply a plate of cheese or grapes to help you cleanse your pal-

WINE TASTING
VALLEY OF THE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN
Don't miss visiting the wine cellars of this evocatively named valley just over 1km southw-
est of the centre. This is the place to sample Bull's Blood - one of very few reds produced in
Eger - or any of the whites: Leányka, Olaszrizling and Hárslevelű from nearby Debrő. The
choice of wine cellars can be daunting (there are two dozen), so walk around and have a
look yourself. (We like cellars 40, 43 and 46 on the south side of the green).
Be careful, though; those 1dL glasses (around 100Ft) go down easily and quickly. The
taxi fare back to the centre of Eger costs about 1000Ft. Unmissable.
