'Cat' is a peculiar little cafe-bar, with vegie and vegan dishes on the menu and, as befitting
its name, felines in various guises as part of its eclectic decor. Chilled atmosphere, occasion-
al DJ appearances and good beer.

We love the food and the warm welcome at this little African oasis just round the corner
from the Rákóczi tér market. It's family run and the food's homemade; try the spicy goat
soup and the Zanzibar rice studded with good things.

This basement restaurant behind the Hungarian National Museum is stunningly designed
and why wouldn't it be? It's in the neoclassical headquarters of the Magyar Építész Kamara

come here for the decor, the artsy crowd and the gorgeous paved courtyard that's candlelit
come dusk.

This quaint Hungarian restaurant with long wooden tables and old photos on the wall is
quite a find in deepest Józsefváros and well worth the search. Dishes mingle Hungarian and

tos de padro ́ n (Padrón peppers), as well as delicious seasonal options.
