;
VI Teréz körút 20;
10am-7pm;
M1 Oktogon)
This place - and not the pastry shop next door - is where to head for Pest's best ice cream
(190Ft per scoop), as you'll be able to deduce from the queues. In winter, let them eat cakes
(210Ft to 560Ft).
HUNGARIAN
PESTI DISZNÓ
11am-midnight Sun-Wed, to 1am Thu-Sat; M1 Oktogon)
Punters would be forgiven for thinking that the `Pest Pig' was all about pork. In fact, of the
dozen main courses half are poultry, fish or vegetarian. It's a wonderful space, loft-like al-
most, with high tables and charming, informed service. The wine card is very, very good
and most wines are available by the glass, too.
FRENCH
CAFÉ BOUCHON
2980-4980Ft; 11am-11pm Mon-Sat; M3 Arany János utca, 70, 78)
A little bit pricey for what and where it is, but
Ooo la la, c'est si bon!
A family-run
bouchon
(small restaurant) with an Art Nouveau-style interior, this place serves provincial French
food stirred with a little Hungarian inspiration and the occasional Italian stray (eg osso
bucco) making an appearance. Warm welcome.
