KÁROLYI KERT
A glorious place to take a breather, flora-filled Károlyi kert is the garden built for the
Károly Palace (housing the
Petőfi Museum of Literature
)
. Frequented by locals, many
with families - it has a lovely little playground - the garden is a riot of colourful flower-
beds in the summer months, and there are plenty of shady benches.
Csendes Társ
is
an atmospheric spot for a sundowner or snack, with a little terrace of tables crowded
round the park's pretty, wrought-iron entrance gate.

Founded on the northern side of Pest's busiest square in 1858, Gerbeaud has been the most
fashionable meeting place for the city's elite since 1870. Along with exquisitely prepared

sandwiches (1950-4950Ft). A visit is mandatory.
