In-Depth Information
Although it is not one of the five premier-league football teams in Budapest, no club has
dominated football here over the years like Ferencvárosi Torna Club (FTC), who play at the
newly built Flórián Albert Stadium in Pest. For match schedules check the Hungarian Foot-
ball ( www.hungarianfootball.com ) website.
WATER POLO
Hungary has won the European Championships in water polo a dozen times since 1926, the
World Championships three times (most recently in 2013) and taken nine gold medals at the
Olympic Games, so it's worth catching a professional or amateur game of this exciting
seven-a-side sport. The Hungarian Water Polo Association ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; tel,
info 1-412 0041; www.waterpolo.hu ) is based at the Alfréd Hajós swimming complex on
Margaret Island.
