AIRLINE
Nepal Airlines Corporation
The flagship carrier of Nepal, formerly called Royal Nepal Airlines (RNAC). As airlines
go, this is a shoestring operation. It has only two aircraft for international flights and ser-
vices are notoriously unreliable, though its safety record is comparable with other regional
carriers. There are flights to Delhi, Dubai, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
AIRLINE
TO/FROM CHÉNGDŪ
Chéngdū's Shuangliu International Airport is well connected to other cities in China, with
daily flights arriving from Běijīng, Shànghǎi, Guǎngzhōu, Kūnmíng and Hong Kong, among
others. There is also a handful of international carriers making nonstop flights into Chéng-
dū, mainly from Southeast Asian hubs like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. It's also
possible to reach Chéngdū nonstop from Amsterdam or the UK and there are direct flights
from the Middle East. Arriving from other international destinations will likely require a lay-
over in a mainland Chinese hub.
Chéngdū is well connected by rail, so if you want to see a bit of China, fly into a major
city and spend a few days travelling by train to Chéngdū. Lonely Planet's China guide has
more on getting around China by train.
International airlines flying in and out of Chéngdū include Air Asia , British Airways
( www.britishairways.com ) and KLM ( www.klm.com ) .
