MONEY
The many licensed moneychangers are the easiest places to change cash; all offer the same
rate. At the time of writing US$1 dollar got you around Nepali Rs 100.

10am-8pm Sun-Fri, 9am-noon Sat) Close to Thamel, changes travellers cheques, has an ATM
and gives cash advances on Visa cards.
Standard Chartered Bank Has two ATMs in Thamel, with one inside the grounds of
the Kathmandu Guest House.

Getting There & Away
Air China operates flights between Kathmandu and Lhasa three times a week for around
US$550 to US$640 one-way, or between US$420 and US$460 from Lhasa.
Visas are available on arrival at the airport or Nepal-China border at Kodari for US$25/
40/100 for up to 15/30/90 days. You'll need to fill out a visa form and arrival form and
give one photo.
Getting Around
TAXI & RICKSHAW
Taxis are reasonably priced and most drivers will use the meter for short trips around
town, which rarely come to more than Rs 150. Note that in the evening you may have to
negotiate a fare.
Cycle rickshaws cost Rs 50 for short rides around town but require considerably more
bargaining. Always agree on a price before you get in.
