This reliable trekking shop has Western-quality sleeping bags (¥350 to ¥600), Gore-Tex
jackets and tents, plus hard-to-find imported knick-knacks like altimeters, trekking socks
and Primus cook sets. Gear is also available for rent.
Rental rates are ¥20 for a stove, ¥30 for a tent or ¥20 for a sleeping bag per day, with a
deposit of ¥500 to ¥700. There's currently no English sign.

INTERNET ACCESS
Most public internet cafes won't accept foreigners without a local identity card. Almost all
hotels and some cafes such as the
Summit Café
offer free wi-fi to patrons.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Several hotels and pharmacies around town sell Tibetan herbal medicine recommended by
locals for easing symptoms of altitude sickness. The most common medicine is known as
solomano
in Tibetan and
hóngjīngtīan
() in Chinese, though locals also recommend
gāoy-
uánníng
() and
gāoyuánkāng
(). A box of vials will cost you ¥35 to ¥50; take three vials a
day.
