This Nepali-run restaurant is definitely a winner for its fine views over the Barkhor, either
from the mural-filled 2nd floor or the sunny rooftop. The excellent Nepali thali (set meal)
is a great choice, or try a chicken sizzler. The owner runs the Tashi restaurants in Shigatse
and Tsetang.
Lhasa Namaste Restaurant
INTERNATIONAL, NEPALI
It's worth battling the labyrinthine backstreets of the old town to get to this Nepali-run res-
taurant, with a charming location in the garden courtyard of the Trichang Labrang Hotel.
The rewards are some of Lhasa's tastiest curries, as well as sizzlers, yak burgers and cakes.
Leave a popcorn trail to help find your way back again.

This well-run restaurant serves a mix of excellent Continental and Nepali food in modern
and fresh surroundings. The Indian dishes are particularly good. It's run by the Snowland
Restaurant and has a similar menu but more local Tibetan clientele.
Dunya
INTERNATIONAL
11am-10pm, earlier opening Jul-Sep; )
With calming decor and wide-ranging food, this cosy Dutch-run place best captures
Lhasa's current tour-group zeitgeist, and is often packed with Dutch tourists and American
school groups. It's pricier than most other places in town but the food is pretty authentic,
from the oregano-flavoured pizza crust to the imported Italian pasta.
The menu ranges from yak burgers to Indonesian noodles. The home-made sandwiches
and soups are good for a light lunch and it's one of the few places on the plateau to get a
decent glass of wine or cocktail with dinner.
