Christian Constant's chic concept space is devoted to cocottes (casseroles), with a buoyant
crowd feasting on inventive seasonal creations cooked to perfection in little black-enamel,
oven-to-table cocottes (casserole dishes). Seating is on bar stools around high tables and
there are no reservations: arrive by noon or 7.15pm.
If the queue's out the door, nip a couple of doors down for a drink at Café Constant (

Founded in 1923, Thoumieux has been worshipped by generations of diners ever since for
its menu of duck, veal and snails and its smooth-as-silk service. It's now run by Thierry
Costes and multi-award-winning chef Jean-François Piège, who has his twin-Michelin-
starred restaurant upstairs, adjacent to the boutique Hôtel Thoumieux (doubles from €200).

Prepare to be wowed: David Toutain pushes the envelope at his eponymous new restaurant
with some of the most creative high-end cooking in Paris today. Mystery degustation
courses include unlikely combinations such as smoked eel in green-apple and black-sesame
mousse, or candied celery and truffled rice pudding with artichoke praline (stunning wine
pairings available).
The best seats in the Scandinavian-style mint-green, muted-blue and burnt-orange dining
room with blond-wood tables and textured walls are on the mezzanine, though once the food
arrives, you won't be thinking about anything else.
