'Buzzing' fails to do justice to the pulsating vibe inside this student-loved pub. Generous
happy hours last several hours and the place is kept packed with a trio of pool tables, board
games, music on two floors, hearty bar food and various gimmicks to rev up the party crowd
(a metre of cocktails, 'be your own barman' etc).

Serious students of Belgian beer should head to this 'beer academy' to try its 12 on tap or
choose from more than 300 bottled varieties, including Trappist (Monk-made) beers like
prized Westmalle, abbey beers including Grimbergen and Leffe, fruit beers, and Cantillon
gueuze (double-fermented Lambic beer made in Brussels).
In true Belgian tradition, it also serves moules (mussels), delivered and cleaned each
morning, cooked in creative ways including with mustard, curry or roquefort, and served
continuously.

This rue Mouffetard institution is reckoned to be Paris' oldest bar. Indeed, a revolutionary
circle met here in 1848 and it was a popular bal musette (dancing club) in the late 19th and
early 20th centuries. These days it's a student favourite, especially during happy hour (4pm
to 9pm Tuesday to Sunday, and from 4pm until closing on Monday).
Resident DJs mix it up on Friday and Saturday nights.
