Ice Cream
All that walking and peering in at gourmet food shops will no doubt leave you hungry,

a two-flavour (or more!) flower.

Crêpes at Chez Nicos
If you prefer savoury to sweet or hot to cold, check the signboard outside crêpe artist Ni-
€3-6; noon-2am; ; Place Monge)

DRINKING & NIGHTLIFE
Rive Gauche romantics, well-heeled cafe society types and students by the
gallon drink in the 5e
arrondissement,
where old-but-good recipes, nostalgic
formulas and a deluge of early-evening happy hours ensure a quintessential
Parisian soirée. It's not ground-breaking but it's all good fun.
CAFE
LE VERRE À PIED
9am-9pm Tue-Sat,
9.30am-4pm Sun; Censier Daubenton)
This
café-tabac
is a pearl of a place where little has changed since 1870. Its nicotine-hued
mirrored wall, moulded cornices and original bar make it part of a dying breed, but the place
oozes the charm, glamour and romance of an old Paris everyone loves, including stall hold-
ers from the rue Mouffetard market who yo-yo in and out.
Contemporary photography and art adorns one wall. Lunch is a busy, lively affair, and
live music quickens the pulse a couple of evenings a week.
