WINE BAR
LE BARAV
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 01 48 04 57 59; www.lebarav.fr ; 6 rue Charles-François Dupuis, 3e;
noon-3pm Mon-Fri, 6pm-12.30am Tue-Sat; Temple)
This hipster bar à vin, smart in the trendy Haut Marais, oozes atmosphere - and has one of
the city's loveliest pavement terraces. Its extensive wine list is complemented by tasty food.
BAR
PANIC ROOM
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; www.panicroomparis.com ; 101 rue Amelot, 11e;
6.30pm-2am Mon-Sat;
St-Sébastien Froissart)
This brazenly wild bar is not quite as terrifying as its name suggests. A wildly flavoured
cocktail - such as gin shaken with strawberries and basil, or a cognac-based creation mixing
cucumber, coriander and ginger - is the thing to sip here, especially during happy hour
(6.30pm to 9pm). Check its website for DJ sets, gigs and happenings.
WINE BAR
LE TRINQUETTE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 67 rue des Gravilliers, 3e;
7pm-midnight Mon-Wed, 7pm-2am Thu-Sat;
Arts et Metiers)
Find this atmospheric bar à vins and caviste in a former cane and umbrella factory, compete
with dandy racing-green facade and vintage gold lettering above the door. But step inside
and it is pure 21st-century chic in that distressed, 'peeling paint on the walls', 'wine barrels
as tables' kinda way.
TAPAS BAR
LA MANGERIE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;
01 42 77 49 35; http://la-mangerie.com ; 7 rue de Jarente, 4e;
6-11pm
Mon-Fri, 6-11.30pm Sat; St-Paul)
A heaving 'after work' drinks venue in winter particularly, La Mangerie cooks a colourful
choice of Spanish-inspired tapas (grab a pencil and paper and tick the boxes to order; €9 to
€16) and has a good choice of wine by the glass. But it's the buoyant vibe and buzzing at-
mosphere, orchestrated to perfection by charismatic front-of-houser Serge, that are the real
reasons to come.
