Don't wear your favourite shirt to this popular Japanese eatery as you'll undoubtedly emerge
with a few stains after slurping up a bowl of freshly made udon noodles. Dishes come in
four styles: classic (served in broth), bukkake (with a hot broth added by the diner), hiyashi
(with a cold broth added by the diner) and zaru (cold noodles with dipping sauce). Itadaki-
masu!

Stube does brisk business throughout the day, with lines out the door for beef sausages, sa-

be hard to find, but park benches in the Palais Royal are just across the street. Beck's on tap.

Despite the drawbacks - limited seating, eye-poppingly expensive donuts - the fast-food
outpost of the burgeoning Frenchie empire is a wildly popular destination. Bilingual staff
transform choice ingredients (eg cuts of meat from the Ginger Pig in Yorkshire) into Amer-
ican classics like pulled-pork and pastrami sandwiches, accompanied by cornets of fries,
coleslaw and pickled veggies.
