This kiosk gives street food a whole new spin. The creation of top French chefs Alain Du-
casse and Christophe Michalak, it cooks up choux (pastry puffs). Grab a brown paper bag of
nine choux salées (savoury cheese puffs) spiced with pepper, curry or cumin; or go sweet
with almond, cocoa, coffee, lemon and vanilla chouquettes, with or without cream filling.

In an area with few budget eating options, this buzzing neighbourhood brasserie with terrace
in the lunchtime sun is a hot spot. Its kitchen prepares meal-size salads, steak tartare and
other typical brasserie fare. Come dusk, after-work drinks kick in. Inside, a mezzanine with
cushioned seating and shelves of books provides a peaceful sanctuary.

Hugo Desnoyer is Paris' most famous butcher and the trip to his shop in the 16e is well
worth it. Arrive by noon or reserve to snag a table and settle down to a table d'hôte feast of
homemade terrines, quiches, foie gras and cold cuts followed by the finest meat in Paris -
cooked to perfection naturellement. Watch out for another Desnoyer opening in 2015 .

From the gorgeous 'Petit Rétro' emblazoned on the zinc bar to the ceramic, art nouveau folk
tiles on the wall, this is a handsome old-style bistro. Its fare is French classic: for example,
blood sausage, blanquette de veau (veal in a butter and cream sauce) and oreilles de cochon
(pig's ears). Delicious.
