Paris' aquarium, on the eastern side of the Jardins du Trocadéro, has a shark tank and
500-odd fish species to entertain families on rainy days. Three cinemas screen ocean-related
and other films (dubbed in French, with subtitles). Budget tip: show your ticket from the
nearby Musée de la Marine to get reduced aquarium admission (adult/child €16.40/10.40).

This pretty, three-storey spa house is where realist novelist Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850)
lived and worked from 1840 to 1847, editing the entire Comédie Humaine here. There's lots
of memorabilia, letters, prints and portraits - perfect for die-hard Balzac fans.

The Wine Museum, headquarters of the prestigious International Federation of Wine Broth-
erhoods, introduces visitors to the fine art of viticulture with mock-ups and tool displays.
End museum visits with a glass of AOP wine (€5) or a two-hour wine-tasting workshop
(€63). If you lunch in the attached restaurant (noon to 3pm Tuesday to Saturday) museum
admission is free.
