. Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM)
The best of Brazilian contemporary art is
showcased here. This work, Cristo de
Rapadura by Caetano Dias, is a sculpture of
Christ made from raw cane sugar. The idea is
that it will gradually be consumed by visitors,
thus symbolizing the lives of African slaves
who died working in Brazil's sugar industry.
