Yachts bob in the bay in front

restaurants. During high

Since Brigitte Bardot's visit to
Búzios in 1964 with her then
boyfriend, Brazilian actor
Bob Zagury, this peninsula
has developed from a quiet
string of isolated fishing
villages lost in semi-
tropical maquis, into one
of the country's most
stylish low-key resorts.
Private homes,
designer boutiques,
and little pousadas

Beaches of Costa do Sul
The southern coast, extending between Niterói and
Búzios, is best known for its landscape, outstanding
beaches, and upmarket resorts. Attractive beaches and
sparkling waters make it ideal for a lazy stretch on the
sand, or a dip in the clean waters. With its crashing
waves and a steady breeze, this stretch is popular for
wind-surfing. It is easy to find accommodation here,
both in busy resorts and isolated fishing villages.

many beaches, the best is 11-mile

is watched over by the Pedra do
Elefante, a miniature
Sugar Loaf.
