essentially an ERP software that offers complete business solutions for all
the wings of enterprise, as shown in Figure   8. 3. Table   8.2 provides a list of
Oracle Fusion applications, including a description and list of products
within each category.
Note the CRM application. While Siebel's product line certainly influ-
enced Oracle's Fusion CRM, the company does market the Oracle Siebel
CRM solution separately, as shown in Table   8.3. The same is true for the
PeopleSoft applications, as shown in Table   8.4.
As you can readily see, Fusion middleware and applications span tens
of dozens of applications. It is quite possible to utilize Oracle (or other
vendor) applications and services in all areas of an organization's busi-
ness. Prior to disbanding the IT department altogether, it is worthwhile to
consider what, when, and why one should forgo internal development and
procure a vendor's products and services. Thus, for the remainder of this
chapter, we will consider procurement.
