The adaptation of such a digital library for consultation by blind users required more chal-
lenging, and sometimes empirical solutions, able to make a screenreader as user-friendly as possible.
Unlike traditional web sites, the common element of publication in ENA is not a web page, but
a document (text, photo, video, facsimile, map, diagram, etc.) accompanied by structured metadata
displayed in a separate window. The prototype is thus based on the same data as the visual version of
ENA, but substitutes the point-and-click mode of interaction with listen-and-select. So it is entirely
