and between application data and the web. There are some Facebook applications that circumvent
this, for example, publishing friends data as FOAF, but strictly, they are breaking Facebook's terms
and conditions.
There are signs that this is changing, and Facebook is becoming more open; however, this
example of Facebook data underlines some of the social and commercial issues surrounding linked
web data. From the point of view of the users, they may want control over their personal information,
being able to move it between applications. However, commercial interests may work against this as
companies seek to retain a hold on users' data.
