bound one equivalent of Cu 2þ , as determined by spectrometric titration [91]. The sedi-
mentation coefficient for the metal-complexed species was found to be 18% larger than
the metal-free oligomer, in line with the change in the hydrodynamic radii. This change
compares favorably with the conformation-induced change in sedimentation coefficients
for natural proteins such as Troponin C [92] and smooth-muscle myosin [93].
