in the setting sun from Ponte Santa Trinità, or from
one of the river embankments.

Mannelli Tower
This medieval tower was built
to defend the bridge. The
Mannelli family stubbornly
refused to demolish it to make
way for the Vasari Corridor.

The Vasari
Corridor , supported
on brackets, circumvents
the Mannelli tower.

Circular
windows called
oculi (eyes) light
the corridor.

Viewpoint
There are few better places
for enjoying the river views;
buskers, portrait painters
and street traders congregate
on the bridge, adding to the
colour and bustle.
