Nor were the clinical stage or histological grade reckoned in the inverse correlation.
Guan et  al. (2006) have published some interesting data on DLC1 downregulation
and promoter methylation encountered in prostate cancer. Benign hyperplasia of the
prostate showed rather high frequency of methylation. Without reading too much
into it, one might suggest that perhaps the downregulation of DLC1 in hyperplasia
could presage progression to carcinoma. Perhaps the progression of colon cancer
might be a suitable model for investigating if indeed DLC1 expression status reflects
progression from early and incipient stages of neoplasia.
