Canal views? Yup. OK, the Grand Hostel may be no five-star hotel, but it is one of Berlin's
most supremely comfortable and atmospheric hostels. Ensconced in a fully renovated 1870s
building are private rooms and dorms with quality single beds (linen costs €3.60) and large
lockers.

This sweet little 12-bed hostel is as warm and welcoming as an old friend's hug thanks to its
wonderful owners, Jutta and Liane. Both avid travellers, they have created a clean, cosy and
communicative hang-out near the canal in booming Neukölln. In the six-bed dorm, beds can
be curtained off for extra privacy. Linen is €3.
