Boats operated by Schiffahrt in Potsdam ( GOOGLE MAP ; 0331-275 9210;
www.schiffahrt-in-potsdam.de ; Lange Brücke 6; 10am-7pm Apr-Oct) depart throughout the
day from the docks near Lange Brücke, below the towering Hotel Mercure.
Choose from a 90-minute palace cruise (€13), a three-hour trip around several
Havel lakes (€19) or the two-hour Lake Wannsee cruise (€14).
A one-day pass valid at all Potsdam palaces is €19 (concession €14) and is also
available online ( http://tickets.spsg.de ) for an additional €2 per ticket fee. The
family version (two adults and up to four children) costs €49. There's also a €3
day fee ( Fotoerlaubnis ) for taking noncommercial photographs inside the
palaces.

iron staircases of the twin-towered Belvedere Pfingstberg ( GOOGLE MAP ;

& Sun Mar & Nov; 92 or 96 from Hauptbahnhof) , a palace commissioned by Friedrich
Wilhelm IV and modelled on the Villa Medici in Naples.
The palaces all have different hours and admission prices. All are closed on
Mondays. From November to April, some of the lesser sights are open on week-
ends and holidays only, while others are closed entirely.
