C/O RELOADED
Displaced from its last location in a grand old postal centre on Oranienburger Strasse
Hardenbergstrasse 22-14; Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten, Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten)
, Berlin's
most exciting exhibition space for international photography, joined the westward mi-
gration and set up shop in the historic Amerika Haus near Zoo Station. The first exhib-
it in the new location was outdoors and presented historical photographs of the build-
ing. Previous exhibits have showcased the work of Annie Leibovitz, Martin Parr, Nan
Goldin, Anton Corbijn and other members of the shutterbug elite.
The Amerika Haus was built in 1956-57 as part of the Interbau building exposition
and served as a US culture and information centre with a library, cinema and exhibi-
tion spaces. After the building was pelted with eggs and rotten fruit during the anti-Vi-
etnam War student protests of the 1960s and '70s, it became less and less accessible,
turning into a virtual fortress after 9/11 and eventually closing down in September
2006. Plans to open a West Berlin museum here were ditched in favour of giving C/O
a shiny new space.

BRASSERIE LAMAZERE
6pm-2am Tue-Sun; 109, 309, Charlottenburg)
At this down-to-earth brasserie the cooking is authentic, the wines hand-selected and the
tables squeezed tight into a tunnel-shaped space. Each day the kitchen staff produce a new
selection of tastebud tinglers, although thanks to popular demand
oeuf concotte
(coddled
eggs),
confit de porc
(pork confit) and fragrant ratatouille reappear regularly on the black-
board menu.
