cases a survey of surrealist art, with large bodies of work by René Magritte and Max Ernst
alongside dreamscapes by Dalí and Dubuffet. Standouts among their 18th-century forerun-
ners include Goya's spooky etchings and the creepy dungeon scenes by Italian engraver Gio-
vanni Battista Piranesi.
A Berggruen ticket will also get you into Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg and vice versa.
Museum Berggruen
Fans of classical modern art will be in their element at the delightful Museum Berggruen (

€10/5; 10am-6pm Tue-Fri, 11am-6pm Sat & Sun; M45, 109, 309, Richard-Wagner-Platz,
Sophie-Charlotte-Platz) . Picasso is especially well represented with paintings, drawings and
sculptures from all major creative phases. Standouts include the Seated Harlequin from
his early blue and rose periods and bold cubist canvases like his portrait of George Braque.
Elsewhere it's off to Paul Klee's emotional world, Matisse's paper cut-outs, Giacometti's
famous sculptures and a sprinkling of African art that inspired both Klee and Picasso.
A joint ticket (Bereichskarte Charlottenburg) for same-day visits to Museum Berggruen,
Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg and the Museum für Fotografie costs €12 (concession €6).

Bröhan Museum

functionalism, all decorative styles in vogue between 1889 and 1939 and considered the
midwives of modern design. Highlights include fully furnished and decorated period rooms
by Hector Guimard and Peter Behrens, a Berlin Secession picture gallery and a section ded-
icated to Henry van de Velde.
