EATING
Being largely residential, Prenzlauer Berg has an exceptionally high density
of neighbourhood restaurants to cater for on-the-go locals with more money
than time. Even without any Michelin shrines, there's still lots of good chow-
ing down to be done.

MIDDLE EASTERN
HABBA HABBA
10am-10pm; ; M1, 12, Eberswalder Strasse)
The best wraps in town for our money, especially the one stuffed with pomegranate-marin-
ated chicken and nutty buckwheat dressed in a minty yoghurt sauce. One bite and you're
hooked. Vegetarian loyalists swear by the sesame-coated halloumi. Take away or score a
seat on the raised porch.

L'ANTICA DOGANA
€4.50-8.50; 5-10pm; Vinetastrasse, M1)
In the frills-free surroundings of the former customs house of the defunct Willner Brewery,
Lino di Napoli and Sebastiano Micieli crank out authentic thin-crust pies best consumed
with a posse of friends and several carafes of cheap, tasty red wine. Some of the furniture is
made from bric-a-brac scavenged from the brewery grounds.
VIETNAMESE
VAN HOA
€4.90; noon-11pm; Schönhauser Allee)
Empty tables are a rare sight at this uncluttered cafe with its simply satisfying bowls of beef
or chicken with rice or noodles and piled high with fresh veg and herbs. In winter, the
pho
soups go a long way towards staving off the chills.
