Though loud and heavily trafficked, Torstrasse is booming, and not just since Bran-
gelina were rumoured to have bought a flat nearby. With surprising speed, this main
thoroughfare has turned into a hip strip where trendy eats pop up with the frequency
of fruit-fly births, gritty-glam bars pack in night crawlers, and indie boutiques lure the
fashion-savvy.

This top-rated indie screens a well-curated potpourri of new German films, international art-
house flicks, themed retrospectives and other stuff you'd never catch at the multiplex. For
the silent movies, the original theatre organ is put through its paces. It's in a fantastic protec-
ted 1920s building by New Objectivity wizard Hans Poelzig.

Cool cats of all ages come out to this intimate jazz venue, where the audience sits within
