The best restaurants on Potsdamer Platz are in the hotels. For a quick nibble,
head to the food court in the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden mall. LP12 Mall of Ber-
lin also has plenty of food options, while Tiergarten park beckons with its
share of beer gardens.

Named for an Austrian Jewish writer, this wood-panelled saloon time-warps you back to the
1920s, when Roth used to live next door. Walls decorated with bookshelves and quotations
from his works draw a literary, chatty crowd, especially at lunchtime. There's only four or
five German home-cooking classics on the daily-changing menu. Pay at the counter.
