The Pergamonmuseum is the fourth treasure chest on Museum Island to undergo extens-
ive gradual restoration work that will leave some sections closed for years. The north wing
and the hall containing the namesake Pergamon Altar will be off limits until 2019. This will
be followed by the closure of the south wing, presumably until 2025. A fourth wing facing
the Spree River will also be added so that in future all parts of the museum can be experien-
ced on a continuous walk.
During the restoration, the museum entrance is off Bodestrasse, behind the Neues Mu-
seum.
