The first repository to open was the

to the Berlin Cathedral and the Lustgarten park. Today it presents Greek, Etruscan and Ro-
man antiquities. Behind it, the

(New Museum) showcases the Egyptian col-
lection, most famously the bust of Queen Nefertiti, and also houses the Museum of Pre- and
Early History. The temple-like

Museumsinsel Masterplan
In 1999 the Museumsinsel repositories collectively became a Unesco World Heritage site.
The distinction was at least partly achieved because of a master plan for the renovation and
modernisation of the complex, which is expected to be completed in 2025 under the aegis of
