In-Depth Information
The Wall collapsed soon thereafter, paving the way to German reunification, which was
enacted here in 1990. Five years later the Reichstag made headlines once again when the
artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrapped the massive structure in silvery fabric. It
had taken an act of the German parliament to approve the project, which was intended to
mark the end of the Cold War and the beginning of a new era. For two weeks starting in late
June 1995, visitors from around the world flocked to Berlin to admire this unique sight.
Shortly after the fabric came down, Lord Norman Foster set to work.
An extensive photographic exhibit at the bottom of the dome captures many of these his-
toric moments.
