Berlin's live-music scene is as diverse as the city itself. There's no Berlin sound as such, but
many simultaneous trends, from punk rock to hardcore rap and hip-hop, reggae to sugary
around Schlesisches Tor U-Bahn station in Kreuzberg is sound central. Another prime ven-
ue, the
Astra Kulturhaus

is just across the river in Friedrichshain. Some venues turn into
dance clubs after the concerts. With scores of pubs and bars also hosting concerts, you're
never far from a musical good time.
International top artists perform at various venues around town:
Platz der Luftbrücke) Started out as a US air-force gym and now hosts up to 3500 fans,
primarily for rock and pop concerts.

in the early 1950s from war debris and is much beloved for its vibe and variety.

among Berlin's multiuse venues, this 17,000-seat arena has welcomed entertainment royalty
(Tina Turner, Lady Gaga) and is also home turf for the city's professional ice-hockey team,
the Eisbären Berlin, and basketball team, Alba Berlin.
Olympiastadion
With 74,400 seats, the historic Olympic stadium is Berlin's biggest venue
and also home to soccer team Hertha BSC.
