Game Jolt
One of the best sites for game distribution is Game Jolt. Game Jolt is a site for indie deve-
lopers to upload their creations both complete and in development for people to play. Play-
ers can then rate and comment on games, providing feedback to developers.
Game Jolt does not allow developers to sell games. All games must be free and a game list-
ing must not link to another site for purchase. Game Jolt is a completely free site for both
players and developers.
As Game Jolt is funded by ads, ads will display on game pages either before the game
starts in a browser or on the side of the page. Developers get a percentage of ad revenue
made through their games' pages and this revenue may be claimed through PayPal at any
time.

When uploading a game to Game Jolt, there are a number of upload types to choose from:
When uploading an executable file, select the
Desktop
option. This will be a direct down-
load to the player's PC.
When uploading a HTML5 game, select the
HTML
option. This will run directly in the
browser; all files must be packaged into a single compressed zip file when using this op-
tion.
The other options do not apply to games created in GameMaker.
