In-Depth Information
Westbahnhof is currently Vienna's major railway terminal. Westbahnhof is the
gateway to Germany, Switzerland, and the rest of northern and central Europe;
departures to southern and eastern Europe are handled from the temporary Süd-
bahnhof (Ostbahn) station. Until at least December of 2015, train schedules in Vi-
enna will be in a state of flux, as the old Südbahnhof station is demolished and
rebuilt as the new Vienna Hauptbahnhof (Main) station. Most local and commuter
routes will use Vienna Südbahnhof (Ostbahn) as it is rebuilt, while international
trains will generally move to Westbahnhof or Meidling stations. Wien Mitte and Wi-
en Nord are commuter-type stations. For train information visit www.oebb.at .
Westbahnhof has two levels. Arriving by train, you will be on top of the elevated
level. The taxi stand is on the left as you leave the train platform. The main station
concourse is at street level.
Baggage storage located on main station concourse level. After descending on
the escalator from track level, turn left and go to the far end of the concourse.
Money exchange ( Exchange-Wechselstube ) located to the left of the escalators
on the top level. Hours: 0700-2200 daily.
Train information, reservations, and rail pass validation may be made at Reise-
büro am Bahnhof , located in the glass kiosk.
