On your way to the lion monument and the Glacier Garden Museum, you will

Swiss House. Built in 1859, the restaurant contains an antique collection of rare
beauty. The oil paintings are all originals by famous artists. Call ahead for reserva-
tions [ Tel: (041) 410 61 71; Fax: (041) 410 17 38; www.oldswisshouse.ch ; E-mail:

for its exquisite Swiss and French cuisine. Meals are served 0900 to 0030 Tuesday
through Sunday. This Lucerne landmark should not be missed.
Visit Mount Pilatus as a side adventure during your Lucerne day excursion. Be
certain to go on a clear day, for there is nothing more disappointing than a fog-
shrouded peak. The world-famous Pilatus electric railway, with its maximum gradi-
ent of 48 percent, is the steepest cog railway in the world. Discounts are available
for Eurail pass holders. It's best to purchase tickets at the tourist information of-
fice at Zentralstrasse 5. If you have a lot of time, you can take a lake steamer to
Alpnachstad. For a breathtaking view and a beautiful way to end your day in Lu-

cerne. Check with the tourist information office for details and discounts available
to rail pass holders.
